Power of Gratitude – Free Ebook

Welcome to our free Power of Gratitude book.

If you have done any previous research into the law of attraction, you will be aware that feeling grateful, for what you currently have, has a big part to play in getting what you want in the future.

Feeling happy and grateful attracts more of the same. On the flip side, if you are unhappy or ungrateful about what you currently have, then you are likely to attract more of the same – whether you like it or not.

Robert A. Emmons, Ph. D., Professor of Psychology at UC Davis, explains in the following video that he believes that gratitude has the ability to heal, energize, and change our lives.

The Power of Gratitude

As children we are often told “Why can’t you be more grateful?” It’s a good question, why CAN’T we be more grateful? If we were, then we’d have a much more enjoyable and abundant life.

The problem many of us suffer with is that we ‘assume’ that we’ll be happier once we have xxx. And we tell ourselves (and others) that we’ll be grateful once we have xxx.

What people don’t realize is that we must be happy and grateful BEFORE we actually get xxx. “If only……” is a phrase which is not going to help you get what you want. This keeps you in that ‘lack mentality’, explained in the law of attraction.

We all have lots of things to be thankful for – it’s just that we don’t spend any time appreciating what we do have. People more often spend their time lamenting what they don’t have.

There’s a short exercise in this first chapter which immediately shows you how you can feel gratitude for something simple that we all take for granted.

And After We Breathe? Then What? Thankfullness

This module encourages you to do another very powerful exercise. It takes you though it step-by-step and asks a series of questions covering:

  • Your finances
  • Your work life
  • Your love life/social life
  • Your goals
  • Your physical life
  • Your home life and possessions

Don’t worry if you are not very positive when answering the questions to the above topics. The next part of this chapter shows you how gratitude can change your negativity towards the answers you gave.

It then goes onto explaining the importance of manners. A simple thing, like thanking other people, will go a long way to improving YOUR life.

Next, there is a case study showing how someone secured a job. They did this not by having the most appropriate qualifications, but through the positive attitude shown after the actual job interview.

Finally in this chapter, there is an assignment for you to complete. It’s quite easy to do and can be very revealing about your true feelings towards gratitude.

It Helps Your Mind

This chapter considers the things that are around us every day that we should be grateful for.

Another simple assignment encourages us to be appreciative of the things that are close to hand…. VERY close to hand. This is designed to build up our ‘gratitude muscles’ – slowly but surely. The book goes onto explain exactly why this process is a good thing.

A surprising benefit of being grateful is that it helps you to manage stress. This is explained further in the book.

“But you just don’t know how bad my situation is. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to feel happy or grateful!!”

Yes we understand that. However, what you read in the next part of the book should point you towards that glimmer of light at the end of your long tunnel.

What it Does to Your Body

We have already indicated the positive effects on stress. However, being grateful also has positive effects on other parts of your body. This chapter goes onto explain the benefits of gratitude on any physical ailments you might have.

The exercise at the end of this chapter gets you to focus on your body. It also encourages the use of EFT.

What about the Bigger Picture?

Most religions have gratitude as a key element (e.g. being thankful before eating). How is this linked on the metaphysical level? And what clues do we give ourselves about our true levels of gratitude? The answers are all in the book.

What About All the Bad Things?

Of course life isn’t all a ‘bed of roses’. What can we do when things are not going well? The book gives some potentially life changing ideas, in order to breakthrough ‘circles of negativity‘.

Another case study is provided about a girl who was in an abusive relationship. This lead to both financial and health problems. On the face of it, this might not seem like an ideal scenario for feeling grateful. However, it is amazing how she feels about the situation now.

Past scars on our life can be used as gratitude links. The book explains how.

It’s like Weight Training

We mentioned above, that you have to build up your gratitude muscles. This chapter takes that idea a lot further and will show you how, and when, you will be developing them.

The book explains how, even if you are going through a bad time right now, you should try to see the ‘bigger picture’.

Another case study reveals how a struggling writer was able to use a great deal of negativity in her life to positive effect.

Do you dream of owning a big mansion? Then there’s a little help for you at the end of this chapter.

Power of Gratitude Quote

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” – William Arthur Ward

So What Are YOU Grateful For?

By this point in the book, you’ll appreciate the need for gratitude. But what if you’re still struggling to come up with anything to be grateful for?

This final chapter provides a list of things to be grateful for in each of the following areas of your life:

  • The things that you own.
  • Your liberty.
  • Your social networks.
  • Your successes.
  • The significant moments in your life.
  • Life’s little treasures.
  • Things that you might have never expected.

Once you start to feel thankful for some things in your life, positive things start to escalate very mysteriously and very quickly.

Final Thoughts

Living a life of gratitude should be one of the easiest things that we can do, yet many people find it so difficult. Even if you just show gratitude for life it will be a start. Or maybe show a little appreciation for help that someone might have given to you in the past. People will remember that.

Too many people wait for events like Thanksgiving before they show any form of thanks or appreciation. This is wrong. Start to show more appreciation today and you will start to see more abundance in your life. What you give out DOES come back to you several times over.

The attitude of gratitude brings happiness, not only to the person receiving the thanks, but also to the person giving out the thanks. As a bonus, your gratitude often has a ripple effect on those around you.
